I'm surprised the engineers of the time thought the value of the (minimal) weight reduction was large enough to out weigh the advantages of having more material for heat dissapation. 2nd on everything else you said. But, though I agree with what you're saying riddle me this. If it is for asthetics only, why does Porsche use drilled rotors? It could be asthetics, but one could assume that because it is Porsche, that there is some inherent performance reason.
